Commencing September 2024
Overview
Each Month
Monthly Topics1. Being led by the Spirit Jesus: Luke 6:39 “And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch?” Kingdom leaders are led by the Spirit and they also help others to be led by the Spirit. There are leadings (amongst others) for decision making, prayer, taking authority and action in the short, medium and long term. This month focuses on helping people to position themselves to hear and to discern what the Spirit is leading them to do. 2. Entering the kingdom Jesus: Matthew 23:13 “For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in” Church leaders can focus entirely on building the church and Christian business leaders can focus entirely on building a business but kingdom leaders focus on entering the kingdom and helping others to enter as well. This month focuses on putting the keys to the kingdom into practice 3. Servant leadership Jesus: Matthew 20:25 -27 “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave” In the kingdom, servant leadership is not a style we adopt for certain situations. Every leadership action in the kingdom has an aim to serve others. Heirarchical organisational structures facilitate the exercise of authority but this is not the way of Jesus. This month focuses on how we can serve people. 4. Personal Transformation Jesus: John 3:5 “Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” Jesus offers personal transformation for every person and Kingdom leaders do not simply put on certain behaviours to fulfil other’s expectations on them. They pursue personal transformation and purification knowing both the personal benefits as well as to be the kingdom leaven that influences others for good. This month focuses on the five drivers of personal transformation. 5. Building influence Jesus: Matthew 13: 33 “Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.” All leaders influence by definition. The two questions are - How are we influencing? And What are we influencing with? All believers should be influencing people with the kingdom and should be mixing in with people. It is not enough to have the kingdom in us, we also need for people to want what we have. All kingdom influence is built on giving to (serving) others. This month focuses on understanding and developing what we can give to people. 6. Religion and the kingdom Jesus: Matthew 16:6 “Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” Religious leaders also influence people. But their influence is based on control (leaven of the Pharisees) and politics (leaven of the Sadducees). Control can be overt or subtle and is often built into hierarchical organisational structures. Kingdom leaders ensure they are not leading in this manner. This month focuses on helping people to remove control and politics from their leadership 7. The nature of the Kingdom Jesus: Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it” As we understand more of what the kingdom is like, we are more passionate about entering ourselves and helping others to enter. The kingdom has a king (Jesus), it has qualities (like righteousness, peace and joy), vastness (greater dimensionality than the natural realms) as well as different heavenly places. This month aims to help people to understand more of the mysteries of the kingdom. 8. Kingdom Culture Jesus: Matthew 23:25-26 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.” There are three levels of culture that Jesus spoke of - our heart, our actions and appearances. God’s will is that all three represent His kingdom. As leaders, we should be aware of the scope of kingdom culture and have a comprehensive cultural model that guides us. We should also be aware of the way culture changes for individuals and for organisations. This month focuses on helping people to trnsform personal and organisational culture. 9. Building Kingdom enterprises Jesus: Matthew 23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.” Church leaders and Christian business leaders can be focussed on growth regardless of its affects on colleagues, customers and suppliers. Kingdom enterprise builders, however, are attuned to the effect of their enterprise on all stakeholders. There are four key building blocks that a kingdom enterprise builder attends to in order to ensure kingdom outcomes. This month focuses on helping pople to put the four building blocks of kingdom enterprises into practice. |
